After winning the Dick's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off last week in New York, undefeated Texas A&M (6-0) climbed to No. 9 in both The Associated Press and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' polls on
Monday.
A&M's last appearance in the top 10 was at No. 9 in last season's final AP poll. The Aggies were ranked No. 15 in last week's coaches' poll and were No. 16 in the AP poll.
A&M has appeared in both polls for a school-record 23 consecutive weeks starting with the 2006-07 preseason poll.
The Aggies won the preseason NIT crown with an impressive 70-47 victory against Ohio State in Friday's championship game. A&M beat Washington, 77-63, in Wednesday's semifinals.
The Aggies play host to Alabama on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. at Reed Arena before returning to the road to face Arizona on Saturday at 5 p.m. (CDT) in Tucson, Ariz.
