Four Texas A&M soccer players were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Central Region team, the association announced today.
Kristin Arnold, Amy Berend and Ashlee Pistorius all earned first team accolades while Melissa Garey was listed as a member of the third team.
It was the second time Arnold and Garey were honored as all-region selections, while Berend made her third appearance. Pistorius has been a member of the first team All-Central Region for four consecutive seasons.
Arnold, the Aggies starting keeper posted a 0.86 goals against average in 24 games started for the Aggies. The sophomore from Centennial, Colo. made 91 saves for A&M, registering an 18-4-2 record in ?'07.
Berend scored three goals and added three assists in her senior season. The midfielder from Highland Village, Texas started all 24 of the Aggies?â„¢ games this year.
Pistorius shattered the A&M career record for goals (81) and points (194) on her way to being named a finalist for the 2007 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy. The forward from Bloomington, Ill. registered 25 goals and nine assists during her senior campaign and also earned a spot on the NSCAA All-America third team.
Garey posted eight goals and four assists in her final year at A&M. The senior from Gonzales, La. finished her playing career as an Aggie with 39 goals and 13 assists to her credit.
The A&M soccer team finished the 2007 season with an overall record of 18-4-2, capturing its fourth consecutive Big 12 regular season title and making its 13th straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
