
Aggie Swimmers Advance 10 to Championship Finals; Sehn Sets School Record

The Aggie men?™s swimming and diving team had a successful morning session by advancing 10 swimmers to Friday night?™s Championship finals at the Big 12 Championships at the TAMU Student Rec Natatorium.
Diver Eric Sehn also shined in the prelims, breaking his own school record in the three-meter springboard with a score of 412.65. Sehn?™s previous school best was a 407.15 effort at the Art Adamson Invitational last fall.
Junior Alejandro Jacobo led a strong Aggie contingent in the 100-yard breaststroke with the fastest preliminary time of 54.90, which was a lifetime best for Jacobo. Jacobo?™s time ranks No. 2 on A&M?™s all-time top 10 list and he trails only his older brother, Alfredo, who set the school standard of 53.84 in 2005. Also advancing to the Championship final in the breast were junior Luke Chambless (season-best 56.78) and senior Francisco Picasso (season-best 57.08).
Junior Ryan Loney and sophomore James Hard advanced in the 400 individual medley, both with lifetime bests of 3:57.71 and 3:58.03, respectively. On A&M?™s all-time top 10 list, Loney now ranks No. 7 and Hard ranks No. 9.
True freshman Israel Duran moved into the ?A? final of the 100 butterfly with a lifetime best of 48.87, which ranks No. 10 on the A&M top 10 list.
Sophomore Kyle Holland and freshman Jason Bergstrom advanced in the 100 backstroke, both with lifetime bests of 49.87 and 50.18, respectively.
Advancing in the 200 freestyle were junior Ryan Latone and true freshman Greg Widmer. Latone moved on with a season-best time of 1:39.18, while Widmer advanced with a time of 1:39.95.
The evening session of the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships starts at 6 p.m.
