Texas A&M senior Blake Stouffer was named to the Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America first team as a second baseman, Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced.

Stouffer, a San Antonio native, was at or near the top of every offensive category for the Aggies last season. A consensus All-America selection and first-team All-Big 12 and all-region pick, Stouffer hit .385 with 12 home runs, 85 RBI and a .668 slugging percentage while swiping 22 bases. His 102 hits and 23 doubles in 2007 ranked third all-time on the school's charts.

Stouffer joins Texas?â„¢ Kyle Russell as the only Big 12 representatives on the first team. The league placed a total of four on the three squads.

It marks the second preseason All-America honor for Stouffer, who earned third-team accolades from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) in December.

Texas A&M opens the 2008 season on February 22 at 6:30 p.m. when the Aggies host Northern Colorado. Season tickets are available now by calling 888-99-AGGIE or by logging on to www.aggieathletics.com.
