The indoor track and field season begins this week for a limited number of Texas A&M athletes as they compete in the Leonard Hilton Memorial meet hosted by the University of Houston on Friday.

Competition for the Aggies will begin at 3 p.m. with the women?â„¢s pole vault. The first running event for A&M will be the 5,000 meters, also starting at 3 p.m. An Aggie squad running the 4 x 400 relay will conclude the meet at 8:40 p.m.

The University of Houston?â„¢s indoor facility is located on campus next to the baseball complex inside of the Yoeman Fieldhouse.

Other schools entered in the meet include the host Cougars, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, Texas Lutheran, Texas-San Antonio, Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern, and Texas State.

Even with a limited group the Aggies will have 23 athletes competing.

Following are the events and athletes scheduled to compete for Texas A&M:

Men

800: Michael Marek, Kevin McNab

Mile: Wes Caceras, Dusty Langwell, Kevin McNab, Graham Northcutt and Matt Ross

5,000: Ben Schulz

4 x 400: Kyle Dykhuizen, Brandon Machacek, Cade Liverman, Matt Ross

High Jump: Melvin Echard, Brandon Letsringer, Trinity Otto

Pole Vault: Brett Bennett, Chad Stoermer

Women

800: Evelyn Wing

Mile: Frances Hearn, Kathryn Hearn

5,000: Kirsten Brown, Elizabeth Slaughter

High Jump: Sarah Pierson

Pole Vault: Laura Asimakis, Jennifer Davidson

The Aggies will have a full squad competing the following weekend at the Razorback Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas on Jan. 25-26.
