Texas A&M women?â„¢s basketball player LaToya Gulley (Fayetteville, Ark.) suffered a career-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee in two minutes of play at Nebraska on Jan. 23.
Gulley, a 5-foot-8 senior reserve guard for the nationally-ranked Aggies, will start rehabilitation on Monday in preparation for surgery in the next three-to-four weeks. This season, she saw action in 17 contests averaging a career-best 7.9 minutes per game. The team?â„¢s top defensive stopper, Gulley recorded a career-high nine points and one blocked shot against Stephen F. Austin on Jan. 3. During her four-year A&M career, she played in 57 career games with one start and was an original member of Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair?â„¢s first recruiting class.
A member of A&M?â„¢s first-ever Big 12 Championship and back-to-back NCAA Tournament squads, Gulley recently graduated in December with a bachelor?â„¢s degree in agricultural leadership in just three and a half years. She is currently pursing a master?â„¢s degree in leadership with future aspirations of a career in the medical field. Prior to A&M, the Arkansas native was a two-time all-state selection out of Fayetteville High School.
