The No. 25-ranked Texas A&M women?â„¢s golf team opens its spring season at the Northrup Gramman Challenge Monday through Wednesday at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

In addition to A&M, the 15-team field includes top-ranked UCLA, No. 3 Arizona State, No. 4 Southern California, No. 5 Denver, No. 6 Florida, No. 8 Arizona, No. 14 Wake Forest, No. 17 Oklahoma State, No. 18 Pepperdine, No. 21 Michigan State, Stanford, TCU, BYU and Ohio State.

Representing A&M will be sophomores Danielle McVeigh and Ashley Freeman, junior Lauren Johnson, freshman Sarah Zwartynski and senior Miranda Orr.

McVeigh led the Aggies in the fall with a 73.67 scoring average.

"We are so excited to get back into competition,? A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. ?The girls have worked hard to get their games in gear and ready to go. We even had a competition with the men's team to help with getting back into the competitive mindset. The spring season is when this team has always flourished and we plan on continuing that."
