The No. 25-ranked Texas A&M women?â„¢s golf team will defend its title at the Central District Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at River Wilderness Golf Club.
The Aggies won last year?â„¢s tournament by 13 strokes as Ashley Knoll captured individual honors.
The 15-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. In addition to A&M, participating teams are Baylor, Indiana, Kansas State, No. 14 Kent State, Michigan, No. 23 Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, SMU and Texas.
Representing A&M will be sophomores Danielle McVeigh and Ashley Freeman, junior Lauren Johnson, freshman Sarah Zwartynski and senior Miranda Orr.
A&M opened its spring season last week with a 10th-place finish at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.
?We are very excited going into this next event,? A&M Coach Trelle McCombs said. ?We feel like we really learned a lot from this past week and we are ready to defend our title."
