The Texas A&M men?â„¢s golf team opens it spring season at the 32nd Annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate Wednesday through Friday at Leilehua Golf Course.

In addition to A&M, the 22-team field includes Arkansas, Arizona, Auburn, Brigham Young, California, UC Santa Barbara, Denver, Fresno State, Hawai?Ëœi, UH-Hilo, Long Beach State, Nagoya, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego, San Diego State, San Jose State, Southern Methodist, Texas A&M, UNLV, Utah, UTEP

Representing the Aggies will be senior Bobby Gates, junior Bronson Burgoon, sophomore Andrea Pavan, senior Martin Piller and junior Matt Van Zandt.

An All-American as a sophomore, Burgoon returns to the lineup after sitting out the fall season. He owns the A&M record for career scoring average at 72.65.

?I can?â„¢t tell you how excited we are to get started this spring,? A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. ?I can't remember a team of mine that was so ready to play and feeling so positive about the season in front of them. This team has the talent, attitude, drive and work ethic to compete with anybody this year. Reaching to our goals of a Big 12 and NCAA Championship starts right here.

?The Burns is always fun because you get to play so aggressive and try to score as low as possible,? Higgins added. ?It also doesn't hurt that you are in Hawaii while you are doing it. It?â„¢s a wonderful event with a long, storied tradition and we can't wait to start our season off on the right foot.?
