The Texas A&M athletic department reached its goal of $35,000 raised from the festivities surrounding its second-annual ?Beat The Hell Outta Breast Cancer? campaign.

A&M will donate money raised from its breast cancer awareness event to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which is the world?™s largest and most progressive grass roots network of breast cancer survivors and activists. Additionally, Texas A&M women?™s basketball head coach Gary Blair will donate $3,245 to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund as he pledged $5 for every A&M student in attendance at the team?™s Feb. 17 game against Texas Tech.

A&M donned specially-made pink uniforms provided by adidas for its breast cancer awareness ?Think Pink? game. The athletic department is auctioning off four authentic game-issued adidas jerseys with one autographed by the team and Coach Blair. To make a bid, click on the auctions link on www.AggieAthletics.com. The auction will close on Friday, Feb. 29. All net proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

?I really would like to thank our fans, students and sponsors for showing their support,? Blair said. ?We were able to help a lot of people through our efforts and I cannot think of a better cause. It is always a good feeling when you can reach out and do your part to make a difference.?

A&M partnered with corporate sponsors Chevron, The College Station Medical Center, adidas, HEB and Subway for its ?Beat The Hell Outta Breast Cancer? campaign held in conjunction with the Women?™s Basketball Coaches Association?™s ?Think Pink? national initiative which is a global, unified effort among the WBCA?™s legion of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across college campuses, in local communities and beyond.

The Theta Gamma chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha also helped A&M meet its goal with the sale of pink commemorative T-shirts for $5. Money was also raised from its 5K Fun Run held prior to the game and from the collection of individual donations throughout the month of February.
