The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the Barona Collegiate Cup Monday and Tuesday at Barona Creek Golf Club.
The 12-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Other teams in the field are San Diego State, Arizona, Coastal Carolina, Denver, Illinois, Nevada, Oklahoma, No. 5-ranked Oklahoma State, San Diego, Southern Methodist and Wichita State.
Representing A&M will be junior Bronson Burgoon, senior Bobby Gates, freshmen Nacho Elvira, junior Matt Van Zandt and sophomore Andrea Pavan.
The Aggies are coming off a sixth place finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate on March 9 in Las Vegas. Gates led A&M with a fourth-place individual finish.
"We have been playing really well so far this spring and this tournament really gives us an opportunity to show what we can do," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "Barona Creek was the site of the 2007 Nationwide Tour Championship so it is an outstanding track. I think we are capable of posting some terrific scores. We are playing with a lot of poise and confidence which should help us a lot this week."
