The seventh-ranked Texas A&M softball team continues Big 12 conference play on the road this weekend with a two-game series against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock. First-pitch of game one is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. at Rocky Johnson Field.

?Texas Tech is a team we cannot take lightly,? A&M head coach Jo Evans said. ?They have played well against us in the past and we will need to be on top of our game to beat them. We need to take the momentum we gained from beating Baylor in our conference opener and take that same aggressive approach with us to Lubbock. It should be a very competitive series.?
Texas Tech enters the weekend series at 7-22 on the season after losing 3-4 to North Texas on Monday in Dallas. The Mean Green scored two unearned runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to capture the victory.
Leah Legler is hitting .366 on the season for the Red Raiders. The sophomore leads the team in runs scored (19) and hits (34).
Ashly Jacobs carries a 2.67 ERA in the circle for Tech. The sophomore has tossed three complete-games through 17 appearances. Jacobs has struckout 40 hitters in 70.2 innings of work.
Friday?â„¢s game will serve as both Tech?â„¢s home and conference opener.
The Aggies look to improve on their 29-6, 1-0 Big 12 record after shutting out Baylor, 7-0 on Wednesday evening. All- American Megan Gibson tossed seven innings of shutout softball, scattering just four hits and forcing Baylor to strand multiple runners in scoring position. Sophomore Alex Reynolds went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Aggies at the plate.
Junior transfer Erin Glasco logged her seventh multi-hit and second multi-RBI game of the season going 2-for-3 on the evening.
With the win, Gibson improved to 17-0 on the season and dropped her overall ERA to 0.72.
Friday?â„¢s match-up marks the 30th meeting between the two schools. The Aggies own the all-time series lead 18-12.
The two teams met three times in 2007 as A&M split its final regular season series with the Red Raiders, winning the first game 5-0 before falling in the second game 2-6. Tech then posted a 4-3 victory to eliminate the Aggies from the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla. and advance to the championship game.
Following their series with Tech, the Aggies will return to action Wednesday Mar. 26 against Baylor in Waco. Game-time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
