The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete at the United States Collegiate Championship Monday through Wednesday at the Golf Club of Georgia's Lakeside Course.
Joining A&M in the 15-team field are top-ranked Alabama, East Tennessee State, No. 7 Georgia Tech, Texas, BYU, Florida State, No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Charlotte, No. 2 Georgia, No. 5 Southern California, No. 3 UCLA, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and No. 9 Stanford.
Representing A&M will be junior Bronson Burgoon, senior Robert Gates, freshman Nacho Elvira, sophomore Andrea Pavan and junior Matt Van Zandt.
"The U.S. Collegiate Championship is the best field we will face all year and it is played on a fantastic test of golf, The Golf Club of Georgia," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "The quick turnaround from our trip to San Diego should be good for us because we are playing with a lot of confidence right now, but at the same time it doesn?â„¢t leave us any time to rest on the success of the last tournament. We just need to focus on this one, play with the same intensity and passion as last week and hopefully, we will see similar results."
The Aggies won the Barona Collegiate Cup last week in Lakeside, Calif., with a school-record score of 37-under-par. Elvira captured individual honors at 12-under.
