Recording a world-leading time of 43.40 seconds to win the 4 x 100 relay during the Texas Invitational this past weekend earned the Texas A&M foursome of Elizabeth Adeoti, Porscha Lucas, Simone Facey and Allison George the women's Big 12 Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor.

The Aggie quartet includes three legs from the squad that won the NCAA Championship last June in a school record time of 43.05. The mark set last weekend in Austin ranks No. 3 on the A&M all-time list following the time from the NCAA meet as well as a 43.29 set in winning the 2007 Midwest Region title.

Texas A&M, which also had a second relay unit run 44.44 for second place in the Texas Invitational, was one of only a few teams to crack 44 seconds in the sprint relay this early into the 2008 outdoor season. In Miami an All-Star squad of post-collegiate sprinters won the Hurricane Invitational in 43.55 seconds. Among other college squads LSU posted a 44.68 in Tucson, Arizona.

The previous world leading time was a 43.89 set by a Jamaica foursome in February.

The Big 12 men's Athlete of the Week was awarded to Colorado's Stephen Pifer, who set a stadium record in Boulder, Colo., while winning the 1,500 meters in 3:47.75.

Nominated for the men's award from Texas A&M was the 4 x 100 relay crew of Richard Adu-Bobie, Brandon Lowe, Dominique Stafford and Cade Liverman. They established the NCAA leading time of 39.66 seconds in winning the event at the Texas Invitational.
