Texas A&M Men?â„¢s Golf Coach J.T. Higgins will caddy for former Texas A&M standout Andrew Parr at the Shell Houston Open, which begins on Thursday at Redstone Golf Club. Parr will start the first round at 2 p.m. on the 10th hole.

Parr fired a 6-under-par 66 to tie for second place in Monday?â„¢s qualifier at Cypresswood Golf Club.

Parr earned All-America honors at A&M in 2006 after leading the Aggies to three straight NCAA Championship appearances. He owns the school record for career rounds (150) and is second in sub-par rounds (48).

Other Monday qualifiers were Steve Allen (65), Craig Kanada (66) and Tripp Isenhour (66). Among those who failed to qualify were two-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen.

Former A&M standouts Jeff Maggert and Shane Bertsch also will compete. Maggert earned All-America honors at A&M in 1986 and Bertsch was a All-Southwest Conference pick in 1991 and 1992.
