The defending Big 12 champion Texas A&M soccer team looks to finish undefeated in its non-traditional spring season as it faces off opposite Big 12 conference foe Oklahoma State on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium.
?OSU is having a good spring,? A&M head coach G Guerrieri said. ?They have dominated the teams on their schedule to date, Tulsa, Central Oklahoma, St. Louis, Ole Miss and Memphis. They are undefeated and haven't relinquished a goal. We know them well and respect their coaches and players, so we realize Saturday's contest will be another tough challenge.?
Oklahoma State finished the fall season with an overall record of 14-6-3, 5-4-1 in league play. The Cowgirls tied for fifth place in the Big 12 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history.
OSU is 7-0-0 on the spring exhibition season and have not allowed a goal, outscoring their opponents by a 13-0 margin.
Three-time All-American Yolanda Odenyo and sophomore midfielder Kasey Langdon, who ranked second in the Big 12 last season in assists (9) lead the Cowgirls in scoring with five goals apiece.
A&M improved to 5-0-2 after defeating Big 10 Tournament champion Purdue, 2-1, last Saturday.
Sophomore forward Cydne Currie scored both of the Aggies?â„¢ goals on the evening bringing her total to five in spring play.
The Aggies have posted nine scoreless games over the Cowgirls through 14 regular season meetings between the two teams, with A&M holding a commanding 12-0-2 all-time series lead.
?I've been pleased with the progress our young team has made during our non-traditional season, Guerrieri ended. ?Saturday will be the last day of competition for our '08 spring season, so we're hoping to wrap it up with another improved performance by everyone.?
Parking will be available in lots designated 100J and 100K.
Admission is free to the public.
