The Texas A&M women?â„¢s basketball team tied a program-best with a No. 8 national ranking in the final USA TODAY/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll released by the Women?â„¢s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Wednesday.
It marked the second consecutive year in which the Aggies landed a spot in the final Coaches Poll next to a No. 21 finish in last year?â„¢s poll. A&M also finished No. 8 in the final Associated Press Top 25 Poll on March 17. The Aggies were the highest-rated Big 12 Conference school of the five included in the final poll ahead of Oklahoma State, Baylor, Oklahoma and Kansas State.
A&M closed out a record-setting season with its first-ever Big 12 Tournament title and first-ever NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The Aggies, seeded a school-record No. 2 in the NCAA Tournament, compiled a 29-8 overall record which marked the most victories in a single season in school history. They also won a school-record 12-straight games including 16 of their last 18 and dibs as one of the hottest teams in the country.
