The No. 17-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team closes the regular season at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Karsten Golf Course.

The tournament is the final tuneup for A&M prior to the Big 12 Championship April 25-27 in Trinity, Texas.

Joining A&M in the 15-team field are Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, California, Colorado State, Connecticut, CSU Northridge, Denver, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pacific, San Diego State and UC Irvine

Competing for the Aggies are senior Robert Gates, juniors Bronson Burgoon, Matt Van Zandt and Trey Todd, and freshman Nachoi Elvira.

?The Karsten Course at ASU sets up great for our team,? A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. ?We have played well on the west coast all spring and we are going back with high goals and expectations. It is not a terribly long course, the par 5s are reachable and we are hoping our length converts into some good scores.?
