Softball fans wear maroon and support your team as the fifth-ranked Texas A&M softball team takes a break from conference action and hosts the Texas State Bobcats in its annual ?Maroon Out? game sponsored by Chipotle on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.
?Texas State is having a really good year,? A&M head coach Jo Evans said. ?They look like they are going to win the Southland Conference. They?â„¢ve got a great deal of talent and we have a lot of respect for them.?

Texas State leads the Southland Conference at 30-15 overall and 20-4 in league play. The Bobcats traveled to Nacogdoches over the weekend for a three-game series against Stephen F. Austin. SFA took both games of the doubleheader 2-1 and 7-2 on Saturday.
McKenzie Baack and Leah Boatright smashed back-to-back doubles in the top of the eighth inning to reclaim the lead for Texas State as the Bobcats won 2-1 in extra innings on Sunday to avoid a series sweep against the Ladyjacks.
Baack leads the Bobcats at the plate, hitting .345 on the season. The freshman has scored 25 runs and driven in 17 RBIs off 39 hits, including seven doubles and a team-best six homeruns.
Ragan Blake (15-9) carries a 2.40 ERA in the circle for Texas State. The senior has tossed six complete game shutouts, striking out 153 hitters through 157.1 innings of work.
The Aggies improved to 42-7, 14-1 in Big 12 after posting a pair of run-rulings, 14-0 and 8-0, over the Jayhawks to sweep their sixth conference series this season.
In the first game against Kansas, Megan Gibson tossed her first-career no-hitter. In five innings of work, she struckout seven KU batters and was just a walk and a hit-batsman away from throwing a perfect game. The All-American returned to the mound on Sunday?â„¢s Senior Day at the Aggie Softball Complex and fanned 10 hitters, scattering just three hits en route to her 27th victory of the season.
The Spring, Texas-native leads the conference in wins (27), walks (42), doubles (12), shutouts (13), innings pitched (187) and complete games (26). She ranks second in strikeouts (215) and opponents batting average (.167).
The Aggies hold a commanding 53-9 all-time series lead over the Bobcats heading into the 62nd meeting between the two schools.
The two teams last met in 2007 with the Aggies winning 5-0 over Texas State in San Marcos.
The Aggies have not lost to the Bobcats since 1997 when then Southwest Texas State handed A&M a 2-0 loss in the second game of a doubleheader on Feb. 11.
Texas State enters Wednesday?â„¢s game with a 2-4 record against Big 12 teams this season.
