Six Texas A&M men?â„¢s and women?â„¢s golfers are among the 66 student-athletes who have been named to the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team, the league office announced Wednesday.

All six Aggies were named to the first team, which requires at least a 3.20 GPA. Representing A&M on the men?â„¢s side are sophomore Andrea Pavan, senior Trey Todd and junior Matt Van Zandt. Making the women?â„¢s team were senior Miranda Orr, junior Lauren Johnson and sophomore Ashley Freeman.

Nominated by each institution?â„¢s director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the men?â„¢s golf academic all-league squad consisted of 18 first team members combined with six on the second team, while the women had 36 first-team recipients and six on the second team.

The 2008 Big 12 Women?â„¢s Golf Championship will be Friday-Sunday at the par-72, 6,210-yard Karsten Creek Golf Course in Stillwater, Okla. The men?â„¢s event is scheduled for the same dates and will be played at the par-72, 7,249 yard Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
