COLLEGE STATION, Texas- The Texas A&M football team wrapped up fall camp on Thursday evening with a two-hour scrimmage before an estimated 1,500 fans at Kyle Field.

“We got a lot of work done today,” A&M coach Mike Sherman said. “I thought it went well. We made some mistakes but learned from some of the mistakes we made. It was a more consistent effort from both sides of the ball throughout the scrimmage.”

The Aggies worked the first-team offense against the second-team defense, and vice versa, for the first few drives of the scrimmage before focusing on situation-specific scenarios. One highlight of the night was the offensive backfield, which made some big plays and converted several long runs into touchdowns.

“They did a nice job,” Sherman said of the running backs. “They blocked well up front as well. On the flip side, when the defense had to step up they made some key plays. I saw good things on both sides.”

Sherman was also pleased with the large turnout in the stands just nine days before the season opener.

“It’s good for both sides,” Sherman said. “It’s the fans’ football team, and they got a chance to see it, and I think our players benefitted from it to see such a great crowd out here on a Thursday night and have people cheering big plays.”

A&M will watch film and work out on Friday morning then take the majority of the weekend off before beginning regular game-week preparation Sunday afternoon.

The Aggies open the season next Saturday, Aug. 30 against Arkansas State at Kyle Field. Single-game and discounted season tickets are now available through the Athletic Ticket Office. Fans can log on to aggieathletics.com or call 888-99-AGGIE during normal business hours.
