GNATZIG EARNS NATIONAL RECOGNITION

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M junior Amber Gnatzig was selected to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week it was announced Wednesday.

The midfielder from Humble, Texas, received the national recognition in addition to being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week yesterday. The Soccer Buzz accolade was the first of her career.

Last weekend Gnatzig scored two goals against 2nd-ranked North Carolina and helped the Aggies come back from a 2-0 deficit. She was the first A&M soccer player to put two shots in the back of the net against the Tar Heels. Gnatzig's goals were a career high and she added an assist in a win against Indiana on Sunday.

Soccer Buzz selects a National Elite Team of the Week throughout the entire 2008 season. The Elite Team is a select honor first presented by Buzz in 2001. A&M has had players named to the team every season since its inception. The last player to receive the honor was former Aggie Ashlee Pistorius on Nov. 6, 2007.

A&M returns to action on Friday against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Sunday the Ags face No. 17 Wake Forest.
