BLACKSBURG, Va. - The 11th-ranked Texas A&M soccer team is in Blacksburg, Va., for a 10 a.m. contest Sunday against No. 17 Wake Forest as part of the Hawthorne Suites Invitational hosted by Virginia Tech.
The Aggies return to action after a 3-1 win against the Hokies on Friday. Wake Forest defeated George Washington 2-0 earlier that afternoon.
A career performance between the posts from sophomore Laura Grace Robinson helped lift A&M to 4-1-0. Junior Cydne Currie scored the Ags' first goal against Tech.
The Deacons are 4-0-0 and have only allowed one goal so far this season. Wake Forest held a 14-3 advantage in shots and a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks against the Colonials. Jill Hutchinson scored her fourth goal of the season in the match.
Sunday is the first meeting in program history between the two teams.
Sophomore Rachel Shipley leads the Aggies' attack with three goals and four assists. Currie and Robinson have three goals each, while seven other A&M players have scored at least one goal and three others have added at least one assist.
This is the second ranked opponent the Aggies face in 2008 after battling with No. 2 North Carolina last weekend.
