TOLEDO, Ohio - Senior Bronson Burgoon fired a one-under-par 70 on Sunday to lead No. 13-ranked Texas A&M into a tie for ninth place after the opening round of the 20th annual PING/Golfweek Preview at Inverness Golf Club.

The 54-hole tournament continues through Tuesday.

N. 3 Oklahoma State carded a two-under 282 to lead No. 11 Tennessee (284) by two strokes. No. 2 Southern California (286) is in third, followed by No. 4 Georgia (290), No. 7 Florida (291), No. 12 Arizona State (292), No. 6 Clemson (294), No. 8 Alabama (294), A&M (296), No. 15 Georgia Tech (296), No. 17 Charlotte (296), No. 10 Florida State (299), No. 23 Kent State (299), No. 9 Chattanooga (299) and host Toledo (314).

"We did a lot of things right but it just didn't turn out for us today," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "We had some three putts and a couple of four-putts and we are a great putting team. These are the fastest greens I've ever seen. But this is a 54-hole tournament and I think we'll be just fine."

Burgoon is tied for eighth individually, four strokes behind leader Jamie Lovemark of USC (66). It was Burgoon's fourth straight round under par to start the season. He won the Adams Cup last week in Newport, R.I. with an eight-under total.

"Bronson had another great round," Higgins said. "This is one of the best courses I've seen and to shoot under par is terrific. He's had a great start this year."

A&M sophomores Andrea Pavan (76) are tied for 44th.
