KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - No. 19-ranked Texas A&M carded an 11-over-par 299 on Saturday and is in 11th place after two rounds of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships at Fox Den Country Club. The final round is Sunday.
No. 10 North Carolina leads by two strokes with a 1-over total of 577. No. 20 Louisville is in second at 579, followed by North Carolina State (583), No. 18 LSU (584), Mississippi (585), Furman (588), host Tennessee (589), Central Florida (593), No. 24 Arkansas (594), No. 21 Kent State (594), A&M (296-299=595), Kentucky (597), UT-Chattanooga (598), No. 12 Denver (599), South Carolina (610), SMU (611), Tulane (618) and Indiana State (652).
Central Florida's Marika Lendl is the individual leader with a six-under score of 68-70=138.
A&M's Crystal Reeves (73-73=146) is tied for 19th, junior Ashley Freeman (76-76=152) is tied for 48th, senior Lauren Johnson (76-77=153) is tied for 55th, and sophomore Alexa Porter (80-76=156) is tied for 70th.
"I think we're close to playing good golf as a team," A&M Assistant Coach Wendi Wiese said. "We are stroking our putts well but they just aren't falling for us. If we can maintain our patience, we're confident we'll start making some."
