KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Senior Lauren Johnson closed with an even-par 72 on Sunday to lead No. 19-ranked Texas A&M to a 12th place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships at Fox Den Country Club.
No. 18 LSU won the team title by nine strokes with a one-over total of 865. No. 10 North Carolina and North Carolina State tied for second at 874, followed by No. 20 Louisville (875), Mississippi (881), No. 24 Arkansas (885), No. 21 Kent State (887), host Tennessee (890), UT-Chattanooga (893), Kentucky (893), Central Florida (893), A&M (296-299-299=894), Furman (894), No. 12 Denver (906), South Carolina (912), SMU (918), Tulane (922) and Indiana State (979).
North Carolina State's Lauren Doughtie captured individual honors with a seven-under total of 68-73-68=209.
A&M's Crystal Reeves (73-73-79=225) tied for 36th, junior Ashley Freeman (76-76-75=227) tied for 47th and sophomore Alexa Porter (80-76-74=230) tied for 61st.
The Aggies close their fall schedule at the Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship Nov. 2-4 in Reunion, Fla.
