COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M redshirt freshman Kat Armstrong was named the Coaches' Spotlight of the Week, the Aggie soccer coaching staff announced on Wednesday.
The Dime Box, Texas, native came off the bench as a forward in both matches this past weekend. Armstrong helped defend from the front, as her main role was to pressure the opponent's defense to give up the ball.
Armstrong did more than disrupt Nebraska and Iowa State's backlines. She used her previous experience as an attacker to fire three shots, including one shot on goal, against the Cyclones.
Armstrong returned to the soccer field this season after redshirting in 2007 following a knee injury.
Armstrong is the daughter of Jerry and Julie Armstrong and has two sisters Melanie and Jessica.
The Coaches' Spotlight of the Week is new this season as the A&M coaching staff highlights a player who made a great impact in team success the previous week.
A&M returns to the pitch on Friday traveling to Kansas for a 4 p.m. kickoff against the Jayhawks. The Aggies return to College Station on Sunday to host No. 20 Missouri. The match will be televised live on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m.
