Maroon Wins Series on Monday, 4-1

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Maroon team posted a three-run third inning to take the lead and prevail 4-1 over the White team in the final game of the Texas A&M Maroon and White series at the Aggie Softball Complex on Monday afternoon.

After losing the first game of the intrasquad scrimmage, Maroon took the next two games for the series victory.

White jumped out to a one-run lead in the first inning after freshman Kelsea Orsak led off the game with a triple to right center and crossed home plate shortly after.

Maroon evened the score in the second. Back-to-back singles by sophomore Holly Ridley ripped an RBI double off the left field wall to plate Spittler from second.

Ridley scored Spittler again in the third and a two-run single up the middle from junior Alex Reynolds put Maroon in the lead 4-1.

Kliesing earned the win in the circle pitching a complete game. The right hander allowed five hits, struck out nine and walked none. The Pearland, Texas, native also led the Maroon offense going 4-for-5 with a run scored.

Ridley went 3-for-5 with two RBI, Reynolds had two hits and two RBI and Spittler added two hits and two runs.

Sophomore Kara Rau led White with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.

Texas A&M softball opens the regular season on Feb. 6 at home with games against Tulsa and Texas-San Antonio.
