Senior Bronson Burgoon is the individual leader and No. 22-ranked Texas A&M leads the team standings after Monday's opening two rounds of the Baylor Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club.

The final round is Tuesday. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.

Burgoon was three-over after 10 holes in the first round, then birdied five straight before capping his round with another birdie on the par-5 18th to take the lead with a three-under 68. He followed with an even-par 71 in the afternoon round for a 139 total. Arkansas' Andrew Landry is two shots back at 71-70=141.

"Bronson has played amazing golf all fall," A&M Coach J.T. Higgins said. "He had 12 birdies today but he still feels like he left some shots out there."

As a team, A&M was 12-over through six holes but played the last 30 holes in three-under.

"We got off to a rough start but kept fighting," Higgins said. "It was windy and cold and we were a little bit tight. But they did what good teams do and I was really proud of them. They were tough mentally and they put themselves in good position going into the final round."

A&M leads by two strokes with rounds of 288-289=577. Lamar is in second at 579, followed by Oklahoma (585), No. 14 Arkansas (588), No. 17 Baylor (590), New Mexico (591), SMU (596), BYU (597), Houston (603), Kansas (617), College of Charleston (619) and St. Mary's (Calif.) (633).

A&M sophomore Austin Schauer (80-77=157) is tied for 52nd. Freshman Jordan Russell (78-78=156), playing as an individual, is tied for 47th.

The Aggies, as well as Burgoon, are going for their second tournament title of the fall. A&M won the Adams Cup of Newport in Rhode Island in September as Burgoon captured individual honors. The last time A&M won two fall tournaments was in 2005. An A&M player has not won two tournaments in a season since Ryan Palmer won twice in 1998.
