COLLEGE STATION—The No. 18 Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team will host No. 15 Penn State in its season home opener at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the TAMU Student Recreation Natatorium. The meet, which will be live-streamed on AggieAthletics.com, will highlight the program's annual Alumni Weekend.
“Penn State will be a tremendous challenge for us on Alumni Weekend,” Aggie head swimming coach Jay Holmes said. “They are a very talented squad with a lot of tradition. It's early in the season and our training, but we had better ready to step up on the blocks and race.”
The Aggies' Alumni Weekend annually brings a large number of former A&M swimmers and divers of all ages back to College Station for a men's and women's dual meet and an Aggie football game.
“I always look forward to this weekend because it's a great opportunity for the current team to meet and get to know the people that were here before them,” Holmes said. “I swam with or helped coach pretty much every person that has come through the program since 1980. It's great to see them, but it's also awesome to see the guys from before that time that have always attended the alumni weekend and been loyal supporters of the program.”
