Key Game Notes *The A&M-Jackson State game is a first-round game of the South Padre Island Invitational. The Aggies will play host to UNC Wilmington on Tuesday before the tournament moves to South Padre Island for the final two rounds on Nov. 28-29. *Mark Turgeon's 27-11 record is the best coaching start in the Big 12's 13-year history. It is also the best start in Texas A&M history. *A&M has won 48 straight regular-season non-conference home games since an 82-80 loss to A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 13, 2003. *The Aggies are coming off a 55-48 win against Stephen F. Austin at home on Tuesday. Jackson State has been idle since a 79-65 loss at LSU in their opener last Saturday. *A&M is 69-10 at home in the last four seasons. The 69 home wins are the second most in the nation in that time frame behind Memphis (75).

About JSU *The Tigers return four starters and 12 lettermen from last year's 14-20 team and are the preseason favorites with win the Southwestern Athletic Conference. *JSU is in its sixth year under Head Coach Tevester Anderson. *The Tigers are led by junior forward Grant Maxey, the preseason pick as the SWAC Player of the Year. Senior guard Darrion Griffin is a preseason second-team all-conference choice. *In their season opener at LSU last week, the Tigers were tied at halftime, 39-39. *Griffin led the Tigers against LSU with 16 points while Maxey and senior forward Jeremy Caldwell each had 13.
SFA Recap COLLEGE STATION (AP) -- Texas A&M's Donald Sloan each scored 16 to lead Texas A&M. Josh Alexander scored 21 for the Lumberjacks. A&M overcame a poor shooting night from Josh Carter, who finished 1 of 6 from the field after scoring 23 points in the Aggies season-opening victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Aggie Notes *Senior Josh Carter has 227 career three-point field goals and needs five more to break Bernard King's (1999-03) school record of 232. *Carter has scored 1,130 career points, 23rd on the A&M chart. He needs 4 points to pass Lunn Suber (1988-91) and move into 22nd. David Edwards (1991-94) is 21st at 1,144. *Sophomore Nathan Walkup scored 7 points with a career-high 11 rebounds in the win against SFA. Walkup also made a key long-range jumper as the shot clock expired in the final minute. *Junior Bryan Davis scored a team-high 16 points against SFA and is second on the team in scoring (15.5). Davis leads the Aggies in blocks (5) and steals (4). *Junior Donald Sloan also scored 16 points against SFA and leads the team in rebounds (6.5) and assists (3.5). *The Aggies are allowing just 47.5 points per game. Aggie opponents are making just 31.0 percent from the field. *After ranking last in the Big 12 last year in free throw percentage (.633), the Aggies are making .768 through two games. *A&M has had an average rebound margin of +9.5.
