COLLEGE STATION - The second-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team will look to complete a season road sweep of its Big 12 rivals on Saturday when they face Baylor at 11 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
The Aggies (5-0) have already earned a 10-9 victory at Kansas State on Oct. 3 and a 14-11 win at Oklahoma State on Nov. 8. No Big 12 team has earned a road sweep of its conference opponents in the same season since going to varsity-only showing three years ago. The Aggies are the only Big 12 team to have won in each opponents' home venue. They also hold winning regular season records in each of the three locations (Baylor 2-0; Kansas State 2-1; Oklahoma State, 2-1) but have never swept all three teams on the road in the same year.
Saturday's test will be a tall order however as Baylor (4-1) brings arguably its best team yet into battle. Baylor is currently ranked No. 4 in the coaches poll, second among Big 12 programs. Baylor also defeated the Aggies, 10-6, in their last meeting, a March 29 loss in the first round of the Central Championships in Manhattan, Kan.
Despite dropping their last match-up with the Bears, the Aggies hold a 5-1 all-time record against Baylor. The hunter seat squad has an all-time record of 5-2 against Baylor while the western half is a spotless 9-0.
Baylor has wins over every team ranked in the No. 6 through No. 10 slots in the latest coaches poll (No. 6 TCU, No. 7 Fresno State, at No. 8 Kansas State, No. 9 South Carolina, and No. 10 New Mexico State). Their lone loss is a 15-9 decision to Oklahoma State in Stillwater.
Before taking on Texas A&M on Saturday, the Bears first must face the University of Georgia (5-1), who is ranked in a tie for second nationally with the Aggies, on Friday.
