A&M's Sehn, McLean Finish Top Eight in 3m Diving

COLLEGE STATION, Texas --- Texas A&M divers Eric Sehn and Cam McLean both finished in the top eight in the Championship final of the three-meter springboard to highlight the Aggie men's second day at the Art Adamson Invitational on Saturday at the TAMU Student Recreation Natatorium.
Facing an NCAA Championship-like field, A&M's Sehn, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, rallied from a slow start to grab third with a score of 400.65. Sehn's strong finish couldn't push him past Purdue's David Boudia, a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic diving team, who took the win with a score of 432.80. McLean, also a Canadian from Winnipeg, took eighth with a score of 331.15.
"We were able to put two guys among the top eight in a field of All-Americans," A&M diving coach Kevin Wright said. "It was a very good competition, and it shows us where we stand right now. We matched up well, just not as well as we'd like. The good news is that we have time, so we'll go back and review the film, find out what we need to improve and then work on those things."
In the pool, the Aggies shined in 100-yard backstroke with 2008 All-Americans Nikita Denisyako and Jason Bergstrom posting top 16 finishes. Denisyako led the way with a fifth-place finish in 49.71, while Bergstrom took 13th in 51.18.
The Aggies took eighth in the 200-yard medley relay with the foursome of Denisyako, Jevon Atkinson touching the wall in 1:32.37. In the 800 free relay, the Aggie foursome of Ryan Loney placed ninth with a time of 6:52.35.
In the 100 butterfly, Bergstrom paced the Aggies with a time of 50.78 and Loncaric turned in a time of 50.97. Sophomore Bryan Snowden led the way for the Aggies in the 100 breastroke with a time of 58.55.
