
Aggie Men Take Fifth in Adamson Invitational

College Station, Texas --- The Texas A&M men's swimming and diving team placed fifth in a strong field at the Art Adamson Invitational which concluded on Sunday at the TAMU Student Recreation Natatorium.
Second-ranked Stanford won the team crown by nearly doubling the point total of second-place LSU, 1,565-756.5. Rounding out the top five teams were Purdue (583), SMU (389.5) and the Aggies (263).
On the final day of action, the Aggies closed out the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The foursome of senior Jevon Atkinson, junior Casey Strange, senior Shawn Clarke and sophomore Balazs Makany hit the wall in a time of 3:02.37. Makany led the way with an anchor split of 45.25.
A trio of Aggies swam well in the 200 backstroke with senior All-American Nikita Denisyako placing seventh in a time of 1:49.50. Senior Kyle Holland placed 15th in a time of 153.17, and junior Jason Bergstrom won the C final with a time of 1:53.89.
Atkinson, a Jamaican Olympian who transferred from Western Kentucky, placed 13th in the 100 free with a time of 45.38 after posting a time of 45.22 in the prelims. In the 200 breaststroke, sophomore Bryan Snowden won the C final with a time of 2:06.99
