COLLEGE STATION - The Texas A&M equestrian team continues to be ranked No. 2 in the nation according to the latest edition of the Women's Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches Poll announced on Tuesday.
The Aggies were tied for the second slot with Georgia heading into a crazy chain of events last weekend. Georgia handily beat No. 4 Baylor on Friday in Waco but then fell to both No. 6 TCU and unranked SMU on Saturday in the Metroplex. The Aggies then had their seasonal unbeaten streak snapped by a feisty Baylor team that was licking its wounds from the prior day's loss to Georgia.
After the dust settled, Auburn, the nation's lone unbeaten team, earned the top spot with the voters once again while A&M ranked second and Georgia third. Baylor ranks in a tie for fourth with Oklahoma State, who beat Kansas State in Manhattan last Friday.
South Carolina jumped from No. 9 to No. 7 while Fresno State slid from seventh to ninth despite neither team competing since the last poll. TCU, Kansas State, and New Mexico remained in the sixth, eighth, and 10th positions, respectively.
