Irving, Texas --- Texas A&M senior Eric Sehn earned a record 10th Big 12 Diver of the Week or Month honor of his career, the conference office announced on Wednesday. It was second Big 12 award of the 2008-09 season for Sehn.
A nine-time Big 12 Champion, Sehn (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) was named Diver of the Week after placing third in the three-meter springboard and fourth in the one-meter dive against a strong field at A&M's Art Adamson Invitational. Against a NCAA Championship-type field that featured a 2008 Olympian and a defending NCAA Champion, Sehn scored 400.65 points in the 3m and 317.05 in the 1m. Sehn's performances helped the Aggies to a fifth-place team finish in the meet.
Sehn swept the Big 12 titles in all three dives at the conference meet in 2005, 2006 and 2007, but redshirted last season while trying to earn a spot on the Canadian Olympic team. Sehn also swept the Big 12 Diver of the Year and Diver of the Meet honors in each of those seasons. He is the winningest student-athlete in school history, in terms ofindividual conference championships.
Earning the Big 12 men's swimmer of the week honor was Texas' Agustin Magruder, while A&M's Trinn Aljand and Nebraska's Courtney Jolly received the women's swimmer and diver awards, respectively.
