Krajicek and Pollock Edged at ITA National Indoors

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Texas A&M's Conor Pollock (pronounced PAUL-luck) fell in the opening round of singles and doubles at the prestigious ITA National Indoor Championships played Thursday at the Boar's Head Sports Club on the University of Virginia campus.

Pollock and Krajicek, ranked fourth nationally and seeded No. 2 in the doubles main draw, were topped by hometown favorites and No. 33-ranked Houston Barrick and Sanam Singh of Virginia, 9-7, in the round of 16. They will compete tomorrow in the consolation doubles draw beginning at 8:30 a.m.

In the singles main draw, Pollock fell in two highly-contested sets against eighth-seeded and ninth-ranked Bryan Koniceko of Ohio State, 7-5, 7-6 (3), in the round of 32. He will also compete in the consolation singles draw tomorrow. Pollock, who is currently ranked No. 17 nationally in singles, made his second all-time appearance at the ITA National Indoors, while Krajicek his first.

Joelson Earns Highest Career Pro Win In Hawai'i...Former A&M Player Brett Joelson (2004-07) qualified for the singles main draw this week at the USTA Futures Pro Circuit Tournament held in Kohala Coast, Hawai'i. Joelson upset fellow American and third-seeded Todd Paul, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (4), in the first round. It marked Joelson's highest career pro victory over the world No. 493-ranked Paul. He will face former Virginia All-American Treat Huey in the second round.
