CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Texas A&M men's tennis All-Americans Conor Pollock (pronounced PAUL-luck) were edged in consolation play in singles and doubles at the ITA National Indoor Championships held Friday afternoon at the Boar's Head Sports Club on the campus of the University of Virginia.

Krajicek and Pollock fell to No. 18-ranked Jason Jung and Mike Sroczynski of Michigan, 8-5, in the opening round of the consolation doubles draw. The Aggie duo, ranked fourth nationally in the preseason ITA rankings, will face Andrew Landwerlen and Martin Zimmermann of Denver in an additional consolation match tomorrow at 10 a.m.

"You don't get many opportunities playing indoors, because of the fast conditions," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "That was the case in all of our matches here. The other teams played the big points better than we did and we lost a couple of close matches that we could have won. When that happens, you lose a little bit of your confidence and that is what happened today."

After a hard-fought third-set tiebreaker, No. 19-ranked Bruno Agostinelli of Kentucky prevailed over the No. 17-ranked Pollock in the opening round of the consolation singles draw, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3).

"Conor played several close games today where he had a couple of chances," Denton said. "The difference was one or two points and having untimely errors at the wrong time. Despite a great fall, it was disappointing for us to not have much success here. Coming into the tournament, we thought we were going to do well, but lost a couple of tight matches. This will be another learning experience to help us make adjustments when we play in the spring."

Joelson Continues To Dominate In Pro Play In Paradise...Former A&M men's tennis player Brett Joelson (2004-07) continues to advance in the singles main draw of the USTA Futures Pro Circuit Tournament held in Kohala Coast, Hawai'i. Joelson, who qualified for the 32-player draw, defeated former Virginia All-American and world No. 1838-ranked Treat Huey in the second round, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Next up for Joelson is seventh-seeded and world No. 772-ranked Daniel Yoo of Korea, with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
