COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Twenty-six senior Texas A&M football players will be honored prior to their final game on Kyle Field when the Aggies face off against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.
The senior class of 2008 has won 25 games in four seasons, and earned invitations to a pair of bowl games - the 2006 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl and the 2007 Valero Alamo Bowl. The 2008 squad is two wins away from qualifying for a third bowl game.
Several members of the 2008 seniors have achieved school records or rank prominently in the Texas A&M record book.
Leading the way is senior fullback Jorvorskie Lane (Lufkin, Texas), who became Texas A&M's all-time leader in total touchdowns (47) and rushing touchdowns (46) earlier this season. During his career, the J-Train also matched one of the oldest school records in A&M annals with 19 rushing touchdowns in 2006.
Quarterback Stephen McGee (Burnet, Texas) is on pace to finish his career as the most accurate passer in school history, and he ranks in the top five in total offense and passing yards. He is one of just two players in school history to rush for more than 1,500 yards and pass for 5,000 yards in his career.
Punter Justin Brantly will finish his career as A&M's only punter to average 43 yards or more in four straight seasons. He currently ranks No. 2 in career punt average, and could challenge Shane Lechler's school record.
Senior Nick LaMantia (Mission, Texas) will be making the 29th 12th Man start of his career against the Sooners, which is a school record.
