COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M senior punter Justin Brantly has been named a second-team All-American by Rivals.com.

Brantly leads the Big 12 and ranks third in the nation with a 45.7 yard average. Brantly deposited 18 of his 51 punts (35.3-percent) inside the opponent's 20-yard line and had at least one punt of 50 or more yards in 10 of the Aggies' 12 games.

Brantly's career punting average of 44.3 was just shy of the school record of 44.7 set by Shane Lechler (1996-99). Lechler is now an all-pro punter for the Oakland Raiders. In his career, Brantly dropped 44 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line and had 57 career punts of 50 yards or longer. He had a career best 80-yarder against Colorado in 2005.

Brantly has earned first-team All Big 12 honors this season. The kinesiology major was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and is scheduled to graduate in December of 2009.
