COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Five members of the Texas A&M football team have been named to Phil Steele's All-Freshman team, the magazine's website announced Wednesday. Offensive lineman Evan Eike, wide receiver Jeff Fuller and defensive back Trent Hunter received second-team honors, while kick returner Cyrus Gray and wide receiver Ryan Tannehill each received third-team accolades.

Eike was the only freshman to start all 12 games for the Aggies in 2008 and became the first Texas A&M freshman to start every game on the offensive line since 2004. He provided much needed continuity on the offensive front and helped clear holes for an offense that averaged 340.9 yards of total offense per game.

Fuller caught 50 passes for 630 yards and a school record nine touchdowns on his way to honorable-mention All Big 12 honors.

Hunter finished third on the team with 65 tackles and led the squad with three interceptions. He earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors after notching 17 tackles against Army in his first career start.

Gray set a school record with 1,169 kickoff return yards, including a 98-yard touchdown return against Oklahoma. His effort against the Sooners earned him Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Tannehill led the team and set Texas A&M freshman records in both receptions and receiving yards by hauling in 55 passes for 844 yards and five touchdowns.

The five Aggies selected were the most of any school in the nation.
