
A&M's Makany Swims Lifetime Best in Beijing

BEIJING- Texas A&M sophomore Balazs Makany swam to a lifetime best time of 49.27 in the preliminary heats of the 100-meter freestyle on Tuesday at the National Aquatics Center at the 29th Summer Olympiad.
Makany, from Budapest, Hungary, flirted with the Hungarian record in the race while finishing 28th out of 64 competitors. Makany was just .14 off the record of 49.13 set by three-time Olympian Attila Zubor in 2001. Makany needed a time of 48.55 to finish in the top 16 and advance to the semifinals.
