PAVAN WINS AGAIN, BUT EUROPE FALLS AT ST. ANDREWS TROPHY
ST. ANDREWS, Scotland - Despite another solid singles win by Texas A&M junior Andrea Pavan, the Continent of Europe lost to Great Britain by three points on Saturday at the St. Andrews Trophy at Kingsbarn Golf Club.
GB & I's 13 ½ to 10 ½ victory was their fifth straight in the biennial event.
Pavan, an Italian, birdied the first hole in his singles match against England's Steve Uzzell and never trailed en route to a 4 and 3 win. In foursomes play, Pavan and Spain's Jorge Campillo halved with England's Matt Haines and Chris Paisley.
Pavan won both his singles matches in the two-day event and was 0-1-1 in foursomes play.
