PAVAN WINS SINGLES MATCH AT ST. ANDREWS TROPHY
ST. ANDREWS, Scotland -- Texas A&M junior Andrea Pavan won his singles match but fell in foursomes play on the opening day of the St. Andrews Trophy on Friday at Kingsbarn Golf Club.
Geat Britain and Ireland leads Pavan's Continental Europe team 7.5-4.5 going into Saturday's final day of competition.
Pavan defeated England's Chris Paisley, 3 and 2 in singles, then with teammate Jorge Campillo dropped a close 1 up decision to England's Sam Hutsby and Dale Whitnell in foursomes. Campillo, who is from Spain, is the world's top-ranked amateur.
The teams will square off with another round of singles matches on Saturday morning before closing out the competition with foursomes play in the afternoon.
