
A&M Volunteer Assistant Coach To Carry Flag in Opening Ceremony

COLLEGE STATION, Texas- Texas A&M volunteer assistant track & field coach Alleyne Francique (St. Andrew, Grenada) will be the flagbearer for his country during the opening ceremony for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing on Friday evening.
Francique was also a flagbearer in the 2004 Olympics in Athens and is widely regarded as Grenada’s top athlete. A two-time indoor world champion, Francique finished fourth in the 400 meter dash at the 2004 Olympics behind a United States sweep of the medals.
Also in the Grenada delegation during the opening ceremony will be future A&M senior Allison George, who will compete in the 100 and 200 meters.
Each of the 205 countries represented in the Olympics will parade through the stadium with a flag bearer leading the way.
The opening ceremony will air on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CDT on NBC.
