COLLEGE STATION - Sophomore newcomer Jaele Patrick (Lilydale, Victoria, Australia) earned Big 12 Co-Diver of the Week honors the league office announced Wednesday.
Patrick and Texas senior Jessica Livingston split the honor this week after each earned a win against the other when the eighth-ranked Aggies hosted the third-ranked Longhorns last Friday. Patrick's first win of her collegiate career came over Livingston on the one-meter after earning a score of 308.62. Livingston was second with a season-best score of 295.88.
Patrick led a 1-2-3-4 A&M finish on both springboards against LSU. She earned a 30-plus point win on the three-meter springboard with a score of 311.70 then followed that victory up with a winning effort of 281.02 on the one-meter to earn the first sweep of both boards of her collegiate career.
In her collegiate debut against Houston one week earlier, Patrick earned a pair of second place finishes to Olympic silver medalist and 2007 NCAA runner-up Anastasia Pozdniakova of Houston. Patrick set an A&M school record of 341.40 on the three-meter and nearly downed the school record on the one-meter with a performance of 309.75.
Patrick and the rest of the eighth-ranked Aggie women will wrap up their dual meet schedule on the road Feb. 7 when they take on No. 5 Auburn and Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla., at noon CDT.
