IRVING, Texas --- A pair of individual victories last weekend by Texas A&M's Eric Sehn and Balazs Makany earned the Aggie tandem a sweep of the Big 12 Conference's weekly swimming and diving awards, the conference announced. It was a record 11th Big 12 weekly award for Sehn, while it marked the first conference honor for Makany.
Sehn earned Diver of the Week honors after grabbing wins in the one- and three-meter springboards against LSU, while Makany was named Swimmer of the Week after winning the 100- and 200-yard freestyles against the Tigers.
Sehn, a senior from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, swept the 1m and 3m dives in a dual meet for the 13th time during his illustrious career with his victories against LSU. Sehn won the 1m with a 356.78 point total and the 3m with a score of 420.16.
Makany, a sophomore from Budapest, Hungary, improved his dual meet season record in the 100 and 200 frees to 5-1 with his pair of individual wins against LSU. Makany hit the wall in a season-best 45.02 in the 100 free and 1:39.66 in the 200 free in the wins. Makany also swam the fastest split (44.79) on the Aggies' victorious 400-yard freestyle relay against LSU (season-best 3:02.32).
