COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Five members of the Elite Eight Texas A&M soccer team earned Soccer Buzz All-America and All-Central Region accolades, editors of the magazine announced this week.
Freshmen Emily Peterson received the Soccer Buzz honors.
Young was named a third team All-American and a first team Freshman All-American. From Castle Pines North, Colo., Young was also designated Freshman of the Year in the Central Region, only the fifth Aggie to ever receive the honor. In addition, the first-year defender earned All-Central Region first team honors, was selected to the All-Freshman team and was a national Freshman of the Year finalist.
Young was honored by Soccer America last month on the All-Freshmen first team.

Shipley was named to the All-Central Region first team, while Peterson, now a two-time all-region honoree, was selected to the second team, and Dyer received third team accolades. Shipley (Plano, Texas) and Peterson (Tulsa, Okla.) were also members of the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 first team and Dyer (Germantown, Tenn.) was a 2008 All-Big 12 first team honoree.
These members of the A&M soccer team led their squad to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Championship last season and an 18-4-1 record.
In voting of a selected panel of Division I head coaches and Soccer Buzz staff, all 320 Division I programs were eligible for the awards that have been presented since 1996.
