COLLEGE STATION - The second-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team will look to avenge its first loss of the season when they host fourth-ranked Baylor on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Brazos County Expo Complex.
The Aggies (5-2) will also be looking to end a two-match losing streak. A&M is coming off a 13-7 loss at South Carolina last Saturday. The Aggies' ended their fall schedule with a 15-5 defeat at the hands of Baylor (8-2) in Waco on Nov. 22.
Baylor opened their spring season last weekend at home with wins over SMU (4-2) and Delaware State (11-5). The Bears' losses have come at Kansas State in a 10-10 tiebreaker on Oct. 17 and to No. 3 Georgia, 16-4, in Waco on Nov. 21.
A&M leads the all-time series over Baylor, 5-2, however the Bears are riding a two-match win streak over the Aggies. Baylor started that streak with a 10-6 win in the first round of the Central Championships at Kansas State on March 29, 2008.
Saturday's competition will also feature multiple fundraisers for the Still Creek Boys & Girls Ranch. The Ranch, located close to Kurten, has been a children's home since 1998 where kids can be raised and educated in a loving Christian environment. A silent auction, containing items created by the children as well as donations, will take place as well as a barbeque cookout in which all proceeds will benefit Still Creek. Members of the Texas A&M equestrian team have spent time out of their busy student-athlete schedules weekly to provide lessons and support to the citizens of Still Creek. Last year's Still Creek event raised more than $9,000 for the Ranch and its kids.
Admission to Saturday's competition is free of charge. In addition to the Still Creek activities, there will be a coloring station, hayrides, and the chance for kids to have their picture taken with a pony. The Street Rodders, a group of local classic car enthusiasts, will also be on hand to display their automobiles.
The Brazos County Expo Complex is located at 5827 Leonard Road in Bryan.
