PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The No. 25-ranked Texas A&M women's golf team opened its spring season with a score of 331 in cold, wet, and windy conditions on Monday and is in 15th place at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

The tournament continues through Wednesday.

No. 2-ranked Arizona State leads by eight strokes after posting a 305. No. 3 Southern California is in second (313), followed by top-ranked UCLA (314), No. 9 Wake Forest (315), No. 20 Michigan State (316), No. 17 California (317), Ohio State (318), No. 10 Pepperdine (319), No. 16 Denver (321), Florida (3250, Baylor (325), East Carolina (326), No. 19 Stanford (328), Notre Dame (330), A&M (331) and Brigham Young (336).

Arizona State's Juliana Murcia is the individual leader by three strokes after a one-under 70. No other player in the field shot better than two-over.

A&M sophomore Ashley Freeman and senior Lauren Johnson are tied for 54th (83), freshman Kaitlin Hovda is tied for 74th (87) and sophomore Stephanie Smith is tied for 79th (88).
